Cycling Tai Wai - Sam Chung

As a change from hiking, you can hire bicycles (We paid HK$40 for each bike) at the start of this cycle path and enjoy some flat cycling along a cycle path. The cycle path follows along the surprisingly beautiful Shatin River passing the rowing boats from the Rowing Club and the edge of Shatin Racecourse.  The cycle path then follows the main road, eventually finishing (but it is no problem to cycle along the pavement) before turning off to a quiet and peaceful track along the coast to Sham Chung where you can catch the 2.30pm ferry back to Sha Tin.

Cycling Time: 3 hours

Difficulty: Easy

Start: Take KCR to Tai Wai. You can rent bikes at various cycle shops in the area.

End: You could turn around at any point before Sham Chung and cycle back but there is also a 2.30pm ferry from Sham Chung ferry pier (wave for it to stop). Don't miss it - there isn't another one until 6.15 but there is a noodle shop at Sham Chung where you can wait.
